This is the first time that such an extensive range of sporrans, has been brought together and put on public display.

Formed around the collection, amassed over the past 25 years by renowned collector, Ian Taylor, this exhibition shows the great variety of styles and elaborate decoration that characterises military sporrans from the past 200 years. Alongside these are a selection of rare and historically significant examples of the sporran makers craft, ranging from 18th century functional and practical to the 19th century elaborate and decorative. These include those  worn by the exclusive Balmoral Highlanders, Invercauld Highlanders, Atholl Highlanders and Lonach Highlanders.

You can also view a variety of civilian sporrans, which show the wide choice available from simple all-leather for daywear to the more decorative and elaborate hair sporrans for eveningwear. The range and extent of the decoration is a delight to see and covers simple tooled patterning. to exquisite hand engraving.
